This is a successful hybrid of studio services and referral marketing. We tap into the budget-conscious, stardom-dreaming artist who wants to get their recordings done at the best quality for price. Afilliate “downline” commissions will be paid to referring artists. A setup fee will be charged to provide the referring artist marketing materials that can be used to generate referrals.

Affiliate Commission Structure:
50% discount per song recorded.
For affiliate level A: $5/song
For affiliate level B: $2/song
For affiliate level C: $1/song
For affiliate level D: $.50/song
For affiliate level E: $.20/song
For affiliate level F: $.10/song

To join the affiliate program, affiliates must pay $3.95 monthly join fee. (Should this be an annual fee?) This fee provides them with 50 drop cards or enhanced CDs to market them to potential clients, plus special newsletter and discounts on industry impact services. Plus inclusion on monthly compilation/mixtape (?) to encourage them to keep recording (optional, royalty free). Make the enhanced CD a compilation. Include client testimonials, shout-outs, video footage of them in the booth, etc. on enhanced. Provide them with 20 CDs with special affiliate code on it to promote, giveaway, sell, whatever to stimulate referrals. Press CDs end of month, send out confirmation calls/letters to have clients pickup or mail, include upsell materials each time plus tips on how to generate referrals. Set duplication rates if they want additional CDs. Also include them on a special affiliate website where their track can be heard and a link to their website or upsell digitial distribution maybe through our store.

Scenario 1 (each person signs up and gets one song):
Zibby (Z) wants to be an affiliate and record a song. She pays $40 to join with compilation  and $25 for the song (includes her $5 discount). The engineer gets $10 for the song.

Z is so happy she refers Abby (A) to the service. Abby gets the service ($40) and song ($25).
Engineer gets $10. Zibby gets $5.

Abby refers Bob (B) who gets the service ($40) and song ($25).
Engineer gets $10. Abby gets $5. Zibby gets $2.

Bob refers Charles (C) who gets the service ($40) and song ($25).
Engineer gets $10. Bob gets $5. Abby gets $2. Zibby gets $1.

Studio makes $260 gross income and pays out $40 to the engineer and $20 in commissions, leaving $200. $60 is spent pressing up 80 CDs at $0.75 each, leaving $120 net profit for 4 songs to be recorded. (Without signups, net profit is break-even.) Zibby has made $8 in commissions, Abby has made $7 and Bob has made $5.

Scenario 2 (each person signs up and gets three songs):
Zibby (Z) wants to be an affiliate and record a song. She pays $40 to join with compilation and $75 for 3 songs (includes her $5/song discount). The engineer gets $30 for the songs.

Z is so happy she refers Abby (A) to the service. Abby gets the service ($40) and 3 songs ($75).
Engineer gets $30. Zibby gets $15.

Abby refers Bob (B) who gets the service ($40) and songs ($75).
Engineer gets $30. Abby gets $15. Zibby gets $6.

Bob refers Charles (C) who gets the service ($40) and songs ($75).
Engineer gets $30. Bob gets $15. Abby gets $6. Zibby gets $3.

Studio makes $460 gross income and pays out $120 to the engineer and $60 in commissions, leaving $280. $60 is spent pressing up 80 CDs at $0.75 each, leaving $220 net profit for 12 songs to be recorded. (Without the signups net profit is $60.) Zibby has made $24 in commissions, Abby has made $21 and Bob has made $15.

Army Core of Engineers

ARMY CORE of ENGINEERS (ACE) Program
This is where engineers use their studio to make the engineer commission. Client pays us, we send them 2 copies of receipt/coupon to take to the studio. Studio and client signs off on work and returns one copy to us. We then cut commission checks weekly. Use a common calendar for appointments. ACE members pay a join fee that we will use to purchase the CD/print materials. ACE member benefits include:
Referral business
Their name/logo on comp cds, ads, website
Their link on our website
Ability to mark up studio rate with client (?), e.g. we charge $30/song for affiliates, but they may charge a higher rate or charge for ancillary services like media, masters, etc.
We need a liability clause we are not responsible if the engineer doesn’t deliver or schedule properly, etc.

ACE join fee: $50 per year.
